Only 2 weeks left in the 12 week Fit Mind Fit Body program. Man, that went fast. The week 10 lesson is Get Back on Track – Right Away. In the previous post “No Matter What? Really?”, I touched on stumbling and challenges with weight management. I am excited about having the tools to help me when I fall off the plan. Why am I so excited you may ask? For me, this is all brand new. You know how it felt to have a new toy, an exciting experience or trying something that you found was fun? I had the same feeling but one of the tools is this lesson of getting back on track right away. The newness wears off after a while. But, I am delighted that I will have a way to maintain when the hype of starting the program dies down. This line of thinking has been a part of our discussions so it gives me comfort to know that when that time comes, I have a formula to make it through. I have never been intent on losing weight but I am not immune to the horror stories of yo-yo weight. Hearing that you can fall in a trap and gain all the weight you lost plus some does concern me. I am thankful that we are having this discussion. Talking about it shows me reality. Weight management is a lifestyle and there is no sugar coating to make it seem like it will always be easy. I like that. Give it to me straight so I know what is ahead of me. One of the activities in the group was to make a memory box or have a place to keep all the positive weight management experiences along the way. The day will come where I will have to look back to gain strength for what is ahead. Knowing that I am building in help now so I don’t fall too far is pretty cool. We are getting mentally fit so that when temptation comes to fall into old habits or not practice what we learn, we have a mental and physical place to go. The physical place is Fit Forever. After this program ends, there is a maintenance group where we can meet to go over all of the skills and get support from others that have gone through the program as well. I have been off track but I have been able to get back on using what I have learned. I am down 18 pounds and can hardly believe the progress. I am a work in progress. Feel free to follow my journey and comment on how you stay on track or get back on track.
